BCP Asia Becomes First Company Worldwide to Achieve Dual Business Continuity Management (BCM) Certification in British Standards BS25999 and Singapore BCM Standards SS540:2008

Singapore, 12 October 2009 – BREAKING NEWS! Business Continuity Planning Asia Pte Ltd (BCP Asia), the leading company in providing training and consultancy services in Business Continuity Management (BCM), is proud to be announced as the FIRST company worldwide to achieve dual Business Continuity Management (BCM) Certification in British Standards BS25999 and Singapore BCM Standards SS540:2008!
Demonstrating BCP Asia’s commitment to developing a comprehensive and robust BCM Programme for its customers, the certification was awarded to BCP Asia upon the completion of its Stage 2 BCM Audit on September 8, 2009.This heightens BCP Asia’s business resiliency and preparedness to react and continue its core business functions and services in the event of a crisis or disaster.
BCP Asia’s BCM Manager, Mr. Sai Tu Woei kicked off the programme on November 2008 with the support from the management. Mr. Sai commented, “I would like to highlight one point that in any BCM Programme carried out in an organization, strong support from management and peers lay a good foundation to start the project.” The BCM Programme implementation finally ended nine months later, with the achievement of the dual BCM Certification.
Prior to this official programme, BCP Asia has already implemented its own BCM Programme internally. The launch of the Singapore BCM Standard SS540:2008 on 31 October 2008 by SPRING Singapore became a driving motivator for BCP Asia.
The Singapore BCM Standard SS540:2008 is to assist Singapore based companies to build resilience and capability for an effective response to disruptions. The standard provides the framework for organization to analyze, implement strategies, process and procedures and focuses on continuity management and recovery of critical business functions so as to make it applicable to small and large organizations.
The British Standard BS25999 is the world’s first British standard for BCM, designed to keep businesses going during the most challenging and unexpected circumstances. The first part of the BS25999 (BS25999-1:2006) was published by the British Standards Institution in December 2006 and the second (BS25999-2:2007) in November 2007.
Director and Founder of BCP Asia, Mr. Henry Ee, played a significant role as the BCM Steering Committee Chairperson. When asked to share on his experience chairing the committee, Mr. Ee said, “Our BCM Consultants are now better equipped with knowledge, skills and experience to assist our clients in establishing a more robust BCM framework that complies with the requirements of British Standards BS25999 and Singapore BCM Standards SS540:2008, having gone through the audit personally.
